About Doug & Patti
Doug was born and raised in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He graduated from Oklahoma State University and received a Masters degree in Biblical Studies from Dallas Theological Seminary. Doug came to know the Lord as an eight-year-old boy. Just a few years later Doug would write down the words, “God has told me that I will be a missionary, and I agree.”
Patti was born and raised near Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She received a degree in Education from the University of Alabama. Patti also came to know the Lord as young girl. She served for one year in Belgrade, Yugoslavia with a short-term missions team. From that experience she sensed God calling her back overseas to serve long term.
Doug and Patti met in 1987, as they both joined Campus Crusade for Christ staff, and were immediately drawn to each other. One thing that attracted them to each other was their shared burden to take the Gospel to the world. They sensed a common calling and believed the Lord would have them serve together. They were married in 1988.
In November of 1989, Communist governments in Eastern Europe dramatically crumbled. The time had come to pursue their vision. In 1993, Doug and Patti with their children, moved to Bratislava, Slovakia (the eastern half of Czechoslovakia).
Since 1993 Doug and Patti have sought to share the Gospel with any Slovak national who will listen. Their ministry focuses primarily on university students, who for generations had little opportunity to hear about Christ. Their goal is to offer at least one opportunity to hear the Gospel to every Slovak citizen!
